DESCRIPTION
The Phoenix Bar and Lounge is everything you want a gay bar to be, minus unlimited free drinks and bartenders who can actually go out with everyone who hits on them. The outside is pretty tough to miss with the giant phoenix painted over the doors. But once you step inside you find a spacious bar, a lounge area that doubles as a dance floor and a couple pool tables in the back. DJs have their own little nook where they spin. And the outdoor patio is casual and cool.

Another thing you might notice is the massive projected screen on one wall with a couch in front of it where people sit and play video games. Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart tend to be fixtures of the screen. And even if you don’t get a turn at the controller, you can always watch and cheer for your favorite character –whether it’s Mario, Peach or Yoshi.

The only potential problem with the Phoenix is parking. The lot in front of the bar, and the smaller one to the side, are available but they fill up fast. Thankfully, most of the businesses in the nearby strip malls are closed by the time the party really gets started. Just be sure to plan ahead and carpool if possible. And if you need directions, just look for the giant Statue of Liberty then remember how symbolic it is that that just happens to be right outside a gay bar.
